The Godfather is making his first visit to Galesburg after moving to the midwest in 1973, and the menu today includes this re-route of the Quincy Zephyr from the BN to the Santa Fe. During this era, Amtrak was utilizing CNW bi-level equipment for this train, and the Santa Fe switcher has just trundled with the train over the interchange track to the Santa Fe main for the run into Chicago. For some reason unknown to John they were detouring over ATSF instead of making the run via Mendota on the BN.
