| A view of an extraordinarily positioned exhibit at the Dutch National Railway Museum (Het Spoorwegmuseum) in Utrecht, The Netherlands. This 4-4-0 locomotive, no. 107 was built for the Dutch Rhine Railway Society (NRS) in 1889 by Sharp Stewart of Glasgow. This example of a very successful design was taken out of service in 1940 and stored in a warehouse in Maastricht. At the opening of the museum in 1953, she was restored and placed on display on this high plinth. This enables visitors to walk underneath and have a good view of the underside of a steam locomotive. |
