Remarks & Notes
After a photo run-by, UP 3985 (still coal-fired at the time) is in the processing of reloading its passengers when this eastbound UP coal train on the old line over Sherman Hill passes. The steam train is on Track 3, the Harriman Line---opened in 1953. The Harriman Line is a steady .82 percent westbound grade, vs. the old line which reaches 1.55 percent between Borie and Granite. This is one of the memorable Cheyenne-Laramie round trips sponsored by the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club. It was truly a grand experience.
