Remarks & Notes
On a splendid Friday evening the ARR's regular nightly Anchorage Fairbanks freight is only 30 minutes out of its origin as it clips along through the wilderness on the vast Joint Base Elemdorf-Richardson. This spot on the rebuilt and re-aligned mainline is just north of Reves Siding. Tonight's train is short, light and fast with only 24L-2E-2967 tons-1662 ft trailing the twin SD70s. The mixed freight on tonight’s train just arrived off the weekly barge connection in Whittier with interchange traffic off the UP and BNSF out of Seattle. Note: it was just shy of 9:30 PM when this shot was taken...you gotta love those Alaskan summers!

Coal and steel don't go bad. This album features long, slow, heavy freight trains; drag freights, slop freights, dead freights, etc. Trains with lots of power, and lots of different cargo slogging along behind.
