D. F. Sarmiento Railroad's #6593 pulls a train of coke coal-loaded open-top gondola cars bound to the export loading facilities in the Port of La Plata. Train has passed La Plata passenger station to reach the unloading sidings at Dock Central, midway between La Plata and the end of the branch at Rio Santiago. In the background there stands Empalme Museo tower, still in service with semaphore-type signals controlling train movements. Electro-Motive Division of General Motors built # 6593 in 1962, as the 18th. member of a 60 model-GR12W order purchased by E.F.E.A., the former Argentina's railroads administrator.
