North Platte was quite the happening place railroad wise in the 70's. Pool power from about everyone was all over the place. Most days it wasn't uncommon to see CNW, MILW, SLSF, BN, RI, IC, NW, WP, SP, plus a few others. Add in the UP's DD40's and all the other variety and you could spend the day running wildly from one end of town to the other end. UP also had assigned a number of on their last legs SD24's to yard service in the enormous yard. At 3:15PM the 447 has ventured out the east end of the yard to spot a couple of empty grain cars and now heads back west into the yard. Guess I just had to get that North Platte water-tower to put a location on the photo.
