Remarks & Notes
Phase I heritage unit, #156, takes the Lynchburg Regional train across the James River. As an historical note, freight service over this trestle, part of the Southern Railway's Lynchburg cut-off project, began on March 1, 1911. The first passenger trains used it beginning April 16, 1911. To see a train on that date, 100 years ago almost to the date of my shot, visit this link http://lynchburgmuseum.org/photostore/enlarge.php?i=4481 Fascinating!!
