Remarks & Notes |
In a rare move on the hack line, No 71 has received the green flag from the operator at Wood to proceed west. Note the amount of ballast that was required to bring the passenger main up to match the freight mains that were raised to keep the Iowa Division open during the flood of 1965. IC 8909 and the 9217 (a GP9) behind it were among a set of engines used on passenger service on the IC (note steam connection on front of the 8909). From a 120 Ektachrome slide, ASA unknown, reduced to B&W due to age related color problems. |
