This photograph shows the Conrail River Branch Yard Office at 113th Street on the Calumet River's east bank in southeastern Chicago. Laying over on the River Branch Secondary main at left is the Acme/Interlake Steel Corporation "Bottle Train" power, EMD GP38-2 (former Penn Central) 8012 and caboose. To the right of the yard office is Republic Steel's Chicago District integrated steel works. To the righ and behind the photographer is Acme/Interlake Steel's South Chicago ironmaking plant. All you see, except the rails, is now gone, including the two steel plants.
