Probably the worst accident to happen on Santa Fe's Harbor District occured on November 11, 1973 when a switch into an industry was lined by vandals diverting the Wilmington Turn into the spur where it hit a boxcar pushing it off the end of track then across a street hitting a couple of automobiles behind the lowered gates resulting in a number of injuries, two fatalities and four engines and two cars off the tracks.
