On a stretch of track across a frozen lake from a closed highway, an eastbound intermodal climbs up to the Great Divide beside Wapta Lake. Trains are few and far between as avalanches and the danger of them has closed the highway into Field from both directions for several days - crews can no longer be shuttled in. Only the hottest trains are running, and this is one of them. What crews are sorely needed are deadheaded in on trains, but the town itself at this point has had no contact with the outside world - and with no supermarkets, all the food there is to be had is the food in people's fridges and the junk food in the general store, bad news for the truckers that were stuck there!
This shot didn't go as planned - there was an absolutely gorgeous sunset and the whole landscape was gorgeous. With no highway traffic to fool the senses, however, I heard this train coming for no less than 45 minutes before it arrived, giving me little choice but to try a low-speed pan shot!
