The former Provincial Railroad lines out of La Plata, Capital City of the Province of Buenos Aires, saw sporadic service in the 1980's. There was a twice-weekly local running from Gonzalez Catán to La Plata, mainly to haul tank cars with diesel fuel for locomotive use from YPF's La Plata Refinery. Number 7314, the inbound local carrying empty tank cars, passes the forlorn station of Etcheverry, site of a junction of the mainline to the Province of Buenos Aires' border town of Meridiano V and the branch to Avellaneda, closest point to the City of Buenos Aires reached by the Provincial Railroad network.
