FRESH FROM THE NORTH. Two General Electric export-model U12C, freed from freight duties in the northern part of the General Belgrano Railroad network after the massive influx of new GM-EMD power, line up at the Tapiales Locomotive Shed while they wait for their next assignment. G.E.'s were transfered south to replace older English Electric and Werkspoor power in the commuter services of the southern Buenos Aires meter-gauge lines out of Estación Buenos Aires and Puente Alsina. Units came south with their original square-box single bulb headlights, later replaced with twin sealed-beam ones.
