| While strolling around the back alleys of the quaint little end-of-the-road town I came upon this rusting relic sitting beside a small cabin. A bit of research revealed that it was former ARR baggage-mail-express car #58 which according to John Combs' site was "Rebuilt from US Army Hospital and Bureau of Mines cars 1947-1949 by Puget Sound." Old troop sleepers, boxcars, baggage cars, and even the occasional locomotive are scattered all over the Alaskan landscape finding new lives in a recycled state long after their days rolling the high iron have concluded... |
