Remarks & Notes |
We're at Illinois Central's Markham yard on Chicago's south side. ICRR 4-8-2 2614 backs to the coaling tower amid furious bell clanging and steam everywhere. She was built in 1943 at the Paducah, Ky shops and was scrapped in October of 1960. These locomotives were the heaviest Mountain Types ever built, had 70" drivers and produced 83,000 pounds of tractive effort.
