| Well, that was unexpected: Driving up I-5 in the wee hours of this morning after the Autumn Leaf Slide Show in Centralia wrapped up, I was intrigued by a collection of flashing lights on the southbound shoulder... and then thoroughly shocked to find White Pass & Yukon Route #97 perched on a massive heavy-duty flatbed trailer. The engine was being moved to Global Locomotive near Olympia for rebuilding with a Cummins power plant as part of the railroad's modernization program. This photo was taken from the shoulder of the northbound Bridgeport Way off-ramp as there were no other safe places to get a view of the stopped procession. |
