Today in history...
Exactly one year ago Great Walton made its final run on the Covington Branch. Here see a the last train pulling the final 20 or so storage cars off the Porterdale branch, after which the switch the unit is passing over will be realigned for the interchange, and over 100 years of operation will be done.
Here a small crowd of railfans has come out to pay their last, and in most of our cases first respects to the line. Today the line sits weedgrown, awaiting a uncertain fate.
