Remarks & Notes
After leaving the Cheat Mtn Salamander passenger train on the main track, two FP7As (#243 & #67) switch empty coal hoppers across the bridge originally built by the Coal & Coke Railway (C&C) to carry its mainline between Charleston, WV, and Elkins, WV, over the Tygart Valley River. Abandoned as a through freight route before WWII, the bridge saw later use by local trains switching the B&O interchange with the Middle Fork RR at Midvale until the '70s, and the handful of coal trains that loaded at the nearby Norton tipple. Presently, the line is used only sporadically by the West Virginia Central for car storage.
