Remarks & Notes |
Railway station Karadjordjev Park located at the entrance of the tunnel "Vracar", the longest tunnel in Belgrade (approximately 4km), which leads over Vukov Spomenik to the station Pancevacki Most. Station Vukov Spomenik is the deepest station in the Balkan region and one of the deepest railway station in the world. It is located at a depth of 90m below the surface of the earth. It is now used mostly for Beovoz (Belgrade urban and suburban trains). The picture shows the entrance to the tunnel Vracar, which is equipped with many safety systems and the most interesting of these are doors designed to close the entrance of the tunnel from both sides, in the event of nuclear war. Station Vukov Spomenik is located near the middle of the tunnel and it is a nuclear shelter in case of war. |
