Remarks & Notes

During the late 1990s, Bloemfontein Shed hosted a number of working Pacifics. Here, 16DA No 876 pilots Class 16E No 857. The latter had rotary cam poppet valves, 6 foot driving wheels, and was capable of 70 miles-per-hour on the 3 foot 6 inch guage.
