Remarks & Notes
In the spring of 1968, a passenger-geared F3 splices two Southern FP7s on train 42, the eastbound “Pelican,” as it makes its departure from Bristol, VA-TN. The N&W roundhouse that serviced steam until the end of 1957 stood off to the right, and knowledgeable locals still call this spot “Roundhouse curve.” [Editorial Note: Thanks to Ron Flanary for the caption assistance.]
