Canadian Pacific's Delaware and Hudson operates between Kenwood Yard in Albany and Queens, New York over CSX Transportation.
Here, the train is crossing Lincoln Avenue (a private crossing) which provides access to Waste Management's Harlem River Yard truck to train transfer station. This facility handles all Bronx trash and is hauled by CSXT trains to Waverly, Virginia.
In the consist of the train are empty 17'-0" boxcars from CSXT customer The NY Post, and empty stone hoppers used for railroad ballast and road projects on Long Island.
Important to note, is that prior to October 12, 1998, and the opening of The Oak Point Link by The New York State DOT, freight trains had to cross The South Bronx on the former New York Central Port Morris Branch, (now abandoned by CSXT) and cross all three active lines of Metro-North Railroad at Mott Haven which did not allow for any cars larger than 15'-6" and only four axle engines, making the expensive investment, an extremely good one, allowing a huge expansion of freight possibilities in New York City.
