History is taking place on an overcast Saturday morning; Amtrak P240 starts its trek on FEC rails northbound after a 2 ˝ hour visit to downtown Miami. This is Amtrak’s first visit to the downtown area and the first passenger train since 1968. After, the FEC/RailAmerica, State and local officials listened to Gov. Charlie Crist, they boarded the train when conductor Shaun Robertson yelled “All Aboard!” for a 9 stop trip back to the Amtrak station in Jacksonville, FL. This special train was operated to check the feasibility of resuming passenger service to the FEC rails.
