CSX Q141 passes by the Spring St. interlocking tower on shared trackage headed for the A&WP sub.
The tower is the last remnant of Atlanta's Terminal Station, demolished in 1972 by the shortsighted city to be replaced by the run of the mill Richard B. Russel office tower. The tower is built in the same Rennaisance Revival Style as the original terminal, and at when the station was in use it and a identical structure at the north end of the terminal controlled passenger train movements of the SAL, Southern, CofG and A&WP.
Visible to the left are some of the last pieces of the terminal trackage, unfortunately these were torn out just a week after this photo was taken, the fate of the tower stands in limbo as it has for almost 40 years.
