Remarks & Notes
Former Chicago Burlington & Quincy 377 "Silver Solarium" (a Vista Dome 1-drawing room, 3-double-bedroom buffet-lounge-observation car) used to bring up the rear of the famed California Zephyr. But tonight it has the honor of carrying the markers for the 2-day trip with Santa Fe 4-8-4 3751 from Los Angeles to San Diego. While the train lays over in San Diego for the evening, Amtrak F59PHI 456 is serviced on an adjacent track and, closer to the former Santa Fe depot, one of San Diego's bright red trolleys carries disappointed Padres fans home from the evening's game at Petco Park, where the Padres lost to the Brewers 2-1.
