| While studying the rods and valve gear of the 844, I noticed some names and dates chalked into the dirt and grime on the main drive wheel. This ‘dirt graffiti’ could be found all along the train; much of it was dated and represented the timeline of the engine’s journey with the Valley Eagle Heritage Tour. |
