Remarks & Notes
The Empire Builder left the Twin Cities right on time, but 25 miles to the southeast that is no longer the case. The dispatcher recieved a signal that the lift bridge across the Mississippi in the background was up and held Amtrak on the other side. This was interesting since the bridge was in fact down, and the Mississippi River barge shipping season hasn't even started yet. After sending the conductor across the bridge to visual the bridge and getting a maintainer out to okay the train to cross bridge Amtrak is on the move again, an hour late.

This train, which runs between Chicago and Seattle and Portland, takes its name from James J. Hill, who founded the Great Northern Railroad and extended it from Minnesota to the Pacific Coast.
