If we traveled back in time to the late 1950's, the UP 618 would be a Baldwin 2-8-0 steam engine, burning coal and assigned to work in the Provo, Utah area. Fast forward to 2010, and UP 618 is a former MoPac GP38-2, currently assigned to work on a switch job out of Provo yard. The contemporary UP 618 is pictured at Lakota Junction, returning to Provo from switching industries along the Provo Industrial Lead. If you are interested in viewing the vintage, coal burning UP 618, be sure visit the Heber Valley Railroad in Heber City.
