Snow and steam are an irresistable combination, so out I went this afternoon. I hadn't visited the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway before and I didn't know what to expect as the line is usually worked by former industrial locomotives. As I arrived to 'recce' the line, the only brief glimpse of sun in the entire afternoon allowed me this lovely image. This could so easily be a scene from the Welsh valleys with this former Great Western locomotive but it's the Yorkshire Dales at their sparkling best.
