In classic back to back formation, Erie inspired Victorian Railways liveried S class S300 and S315 lead the Royal Train, conveying Prince Charles and Princess Diana from Melbourne to Ballarat, up Ingliston Bank, west of Bacchus Marsh, in April 1983.
