Remarks & Notes |
The Whittier based extra board crew and their two geeps have made a trip over the mountains from Whittier to retrieve a lone empty flat car off the dock in Seward. They are departing northward and will cruise north to Crown Point where they have to stop to pick up one empty LPG tank car before heading home to Whittier. To the left of the lead unit can be seen the cold waters of Resurrection Bay and beyond the train to the right can be seen asphalt containers stacked high on the docks and the coal loading apparatus all in the shadow of the 3500+ foot peaks of the Kenai Mountains. Note: the photographer is a railroad employee and was wearing all required PPE while taking this photograph. |
