In the distance is Stansbury Island, a group of mountains that qualify as an 'island' only rarely when the water level is high. Union Pacific's Shafter Subdivision between Smelter, Utah and Alazon, Nevada was part of the former Western Pacific which officially merged into the UP system in 1983.
