Remarks & Notes |
Lotsa curves, you bet! About 40 minutes into its journey, the Cumbres & Toltec's daily train from Chama to Antonito encounters the S-Curve near the Colorado State Line. Here, the train begins to follow the tight contours of the rapidly rising terrain as it runs the last 6 miles to Cumbres Pass. This spot is a favorite with the gaggle of fans that invariably chase the train each day. The shoulders of Highway 17 provide a natural amphitheater and snake-like curve ensures that one can get a sunlit shot nearly any time of the day. |
