| SCL Extra 617 North has just departed Raleigh Yard, NC and is stepping across Crabtree Creek enroute Richmond, Va. Two SDP35's and a GP18 are in charge of the train today. The bridge depicted in this photo was replaced circa 1972 when SCL embarked upon a vigorous bridge rebuilding program on the Raleigh Division. Note the stone abutment in the lower portion of the photo from an even earlier bridge over the creek. The abutment still stands today. |
