Shosholoza Meyl's "Economy" from East London to Johannesburg, passing through Greenlands station behind loco E1397, one of three 6E1's newly painted in the passenger operators purple livery. In contrast to the colourful train livery, the rusting pedestrian footbridge is a clear sign that this country station, like so many others around South Africa, has been closed. The semaphore signals are all gone, the points giving access to the platform loops have been removed and the missing lengths of rail from the loop in the foreground have probably found their way to a scrap metal merchant.
