This manifest is on the way to Galesburg on the backside of BN's "Iron Triangle", the consist a typical one for this era. Denrock was where a crossing of CB&Q branchlines were once located in it's network of western Ill. branchlines west of Sterling. By the time of BN, the line north to Savanna made a tight bend onto the Barstow sub, hence the train is making a nice slow run in great light, in moments it will be headed directly into the sun. The branches to Mendota and Sterling were ripped up from this point.
