| Nevada Northern volunteer Kurt Dietrich strikes a very heroic pose on locomotive # 93 inside the Nevada Northern engine house. In this scene we had Kurt holding a brand new lantern that is still manufactured by the Adams & Westlake Co. and features the initials of the railroad etched into the globe. It should be noted that our decision to shoot inside the engine house was due in part to a defect that developed with one of the bearing on the # 2 driver of engine 93. We decided it would be best to limit the movement of the engine so we just lit her up with strobes inside the building. In looking back on our lack of being able to shoot at a location in the yard or at the station, I cannot complain very much at all about the results we achieved shooting inside the engine house. I hope Kurt didn’t get into trouble spending his Valentines’ Day evening in an engine house instead of with his sweetheart. Feb. 14th, 2009. © Steve Crise Photo. Scrise.com |
