Remarks & Notes
Class 52 Diesel Hydraulic no D1015 'Western Champion' - this magnificent locomotive was built at Swindon Works in 1963 in the Great Western tradition. It, and it's 73 brothers, was deemed non standard because of it's hydraulic transmission and was withdrawn in 1976 after a minor derailment. Restored to mainline standards, Western Champion now runs a number of long distance excursions each year and is sure to draw a crowd!
