The season of mid-week main line steam trains is now in full swing in the UK, and the "Scarborough Spa Express" was one of four running in various parts of the country on 29th July - a day of mostly torrential rain! The weather started to clear towards sunset, though, with the sun finding a gap in the clouds at just the right moment as the train left Knaresborough for York on the last leg of its 212 mile journey. By the time the train had passed me, the sun had disappeared into cloud again. Just occasionally, things work out right!
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
