A Purple line train on the outside track will run all the way to Howard Terminal, then on to Linden, Wilmette, IL. Purple line Evanston rush hour trains are express on the outside tracks. By the 1920s the elevated was extended north from the end of the steel structure at Wilson AV to Howard ST on this concrete walled embankment which allowed standard steam railroad freight cars on the outer track on the right.
