Two foot to Wiscasset! If you want postcard pictures of the two-foot freight trains that once represented the lifelines of Maine's rural communities, there is only one place you can go. While the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum spends most of its time providing passenger trains for tourists, they are ever mindful that passenger service was only one component of the history of narrow gauge railroading. Every summer, at the WW&F's Annual Picnic, the museum provides the public with a very unique opportunity to see not only passenger trains, but mixed trains and even pure freights, like the one you see here. Some of these trains are run especially for photographers and are operated at hours when the light is simply superb. If you like what you see here, you owe it to yourself to visit this place.
