Remarks & Notes
The last real hurrah for steam at Mt. Washington occurred during October of 2008. With the fall foliage peaking in the White Mountains, patrons swarmed the railway, resulting in two trains making the climb each hour. In this scene, the A-section of the 11 AM Train is framed by the smoke and steam plume of the following B-section. With diesels scheduled to replace most of the steam trips in June of 2009, scenes like this, which have played out over 140 years of the railway's history, will not likely be repeated.
