It's a crisp Autumn morning, and I've purposefully missed my train after a tip-off that one of the 7 remaining Hitachi sets is heading my way, seen here rounding the curve into Alphington, bound for Greensborough. These classic 70's era EMUs were supposed to be withdrawn by 2006, however recent increases in patronage combined with failures in the rest of the fleet have forced Connex to retain seven six-car sets in service, even giving them a light refurbishment and corporate livery.
