NGG16 Garratt no. 143 threads through the Aberglaslyn Pass having just exited the tunnel with the 13.40 Hafod y Llyn to Caernarfon. This is the narrowest part of the pass, where the railway, River Glaslyn, and the road are hemmed in. The whole area is owned by the National Trust, and it's not difficult to see why its members have voted it their favourite view in the country. On the top right can be seen Moelwyn Mawr, below which is a reservoir for a pumped-storage hydroelectric power station.
