The last SD-M on the former Missabe fleet, DM&IR 308, leads an empty T-Bird back to Largo. The DM&IR 308 has now officially been retired from the active CN roster as of March 21st, 2009 bringing an end to the SD-M era on the Iron Range. The 308 started life in 1960 as SD-18 177 and was rebuilt in 1988 as the SD-M 308 and now retired after almost 50 years of service to the mines of the Iron Range.
