| South bound train Q198 rumbles past Mixon in late afternoon light at 17:37 with a CW40-8 leading the way. This train is minutes away from it's terminating point of the Fairburn Intermodal Facility. Mixon is the control point on the A&WP side of the Vaughn Connection track which runs between the A&WP Sub and Manchester Sub. This trackage permits A&WP Sub trains except intermodals to gain direct access to Tilford Yard by avoiding the Norfolk Southern trackage between East Point and Jones Ave. in down town Atlanta. All intermodal traffic that runs via the A&WP origanates or terminates at Hulsey Yard in Atlanta with the exception of Q198 and Q197 which set off and pick up blocks respectively. |
