Remarks & Notes |
The Engineer on an empty southbound C&O coal train has both hands busy at this particular moment; his left is pulling on the whistle cord while his right is reaching out to grab running orders off the "Iron Man," which will direct his train's movement over the Toledo Terminal Railroad. This train will run over the "Terminal" to Walbridge, where it will diverge onto "home" rails and continue south to be loaded once again. Hallett tower was the "end of the line" for the former Pere Marquette line from Michigan, which kept the Hallett operator busy copying and hanging train orders for all southbound trains and ocassionally some northbounds as well. |
