| A "brake assist" unit is reflected in the swamplands of the New Jersey Meadowlands as it trails a dirt train headed towards unloading at Jersey City, NJ. The dirt trains brought back big-time freight railroading to this line, bereft of any worthwhile freight activity since 1980 when the DL&W Cut-Off was abandoned. Today, this line itself is virtually abandoned, "railbanked" by Norfolk Southern. |
