CN 7218 departs Thunder Bay North with a drag of emties for Neebing. It's amazing how small the yard is now compared to yesteryear. To put things into perspective, at one time there were 54 yard assignments working in terminal (out of Neebing and Port Arthur yards combined) 35 years ago, plus multiple grain trains a day, a "Speed" train both ways out of the city, a pulp wood train, ore trains from Atikokan and Sioux Lookout, a Nipigon switcher. The seemed to go on and on. Today only 5 assignments work in the terminal, plus a daily freight train (aka the "Speed" train). The odd grain train will come into the old Port Arthur yards, but it's nothing like it use to. The line now ends in Thunder Bay and the link to the east is all but abandoned and torn up.
