Hot Box! This is an extreme example of what happens when a bearing over heats. This car was caught by a hot box detector and the car had to be moved at walking speed to the next set off point. This was found just before a total disintegration of the axel. Had the detector been a few more miles down the road, the outcome would have been very different.
